Introduction

Govt. Degree College Shivnagar, Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, India was established in 1995 as a privately managed college called Swami Vivekanand Gramodaya College. It was started to provide higher education to the 24 panchayats of the surrounding area. The college was taken over by the Himachal Pradesh Government on November 30, 2015, vide notification No. EDN-A-KA (1)-9/2012. The college is situated in the rural area of Kangra District on the right bank of Mahand Khad. The place is surrounded by natural beauty and is an ideal place for study. The college offers two courses across two streams:
* Arts: Bachelor of Arts (BA)
* Commerce: Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com)
The college is affiliated with Himachal Pradesh University and has a student strength of over 100. It also offers a variety of extracurricular activities and opportunities for students to develop their skills and talents.
